Pensioner fined for crossing the street too slowly
An elderly man has been fined after crossing the street too slowly.
The 85-year-old, who walks with a slight limp, was crossing the road in Pinerolo, near Turin, Italy, when he was stopped by officers because he had failed to make it across while the light was still green.
But despite repeated complaints from residents that the lights to do not allow enough time for slow walkers to cross, the pensioner was handed a 41 euro (£32) fine, while he duly paid a few days later.

‘The record is there and I doubt that the man crossed on the green light,’ local police chief Ermenegilda Aloi told La Repubblica.
The town mayor Eugenio Buttiero said, however, that he would personally refund the man.
‘We want our officers to be zealous and I haven’t yet had time to speak with the person who gave the fine, to understand what happened and to see whether there were any excesses,’ he said.
‘In any case, tomorrow I will go to the elderly man’s home and refund him the money he had to pay for the fine out of my own pocket.’
