Man rescued from storm drain claims to have been stuck for 4 days

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A homeless man who was rescued from an 18-inch drain pipe in Midtown claims he was trapped there for four days.
He was discovered by people who heard him yelling from behind the tennis courts at the Centennial Sportsplex on Sunday afternoon.
He said that he entered a storm drain at Centennial Park near Charlotte Avenue on Thursday.
After he traveled forward for more than a quarter of a mile, the storm drain began to narrow, and he got stuck about 5 feet from the exit.
Crews dug down to the concrete and broke it with a chisel, then carefully bent the rebar open and removed the man.
The man is said to have been pretty scratched up but officials said he not have any major injuries.
Minutes after he was rescued, it started raining, which means this could have had a very different ending.
"If we got the rain that the weatherman forecast, that wouldn't have been pretty," said Arderel Sawyers with the Nashville Fire Department.
